Storm Update- Monday Evening 2/23/26 & Revised Solid Waste & Recycling Schedule
Date Posted: Monday, February 23rd, 2026The level 2 driving restriction for New Castle County has been downgraded to a level 1. This means that drivers should avoid traveling on roadways, unless there is a significant safety, health, or business reason to do so. All motorists are urged to drive with extreme caution.
On Tuesday, 2/24/2026, the City of New Castle offices will open on a normal schedule. In order to allow Public Works to continue to cleanup from the storm, solid waste pickup will be delayed one additional day. Yard waste pickup is canceled for the week of 2/23-2/27. Solid waste pickup originally scheduled for Monday, February 23rd, 2026 will be collected on Wednesday, February 25th, 2026. Solid waste pickup originally scheduled for Tuesday, February 24th, 2026 will be collected on Thursday, February 26th, 2026. Recycling will be picked up on Friday, February 27th, 2026.
Residents are again reminded to remove any snow or ice from sidewalk within 24 hours of the end of the storm.
